a letter to my favorite band-
you mean everything to me.
thank you John, Pat, Garrett, Jared and Kennedy for being a constant in my life.
thank you for taking the time to really figure yourself out as individuals, as musicians, and as a band to make a sound you are happy with.  I got to listen to my favorite band figure themselves out during a time when I was still trying to figure myself out.  while I was growing out of your “teeny bop” type music, your sound matured.  and again.
when I was 15 and fell in love with you guys at a concert (with Forever the Sickest Kids and Metro Station, I don’t think they ever named that tour), I never thought a band would influence me as much as you guys did.  thank you for the tour updates, that let me (and thousands of other fans) feel like I was on the road with you, in your graffiti littered van.  It was a short escape whenever high school got me down.  depression hit me hard in high school, and the only thing that kept me alive for the most part was counting down the days until you came back to new york.  I would doodle it all over my notebooks instead of taking notes haha
I don’t stalk your internet lives like I did when I was in high school, but The Maine has been a constant in my life.  I met my best friend in the entire world through a the maine chat room.  I traveled and tried new things and made new friends and ditched fake friends all with a different The Maine album as my soundtrack.
A few months ago I traveled to Toronto to see you guys with my best friend (the one mentioned above.)  I was addicted to opiates before that, having a 120mg oxy a day habit.  I used that concert as a motivation to sober up, I couldn’t be in withdrawal for that concert.  it was so worth it getting sober for that concert, you guys really played your hearts out on the 8123 tour and I’ve been clean for almost 3 months now.
shit I am kind of rambling but basically thank you guys for everything.  I’ve been going through a really hard time lately trying to figure out what I am doing with the rest of my life ever since I dropped out of college a year ago.  I got this tattoo as motivation.  you guys figured it out, I will too.
